Hey [H]ard guys, I have a question, and am looking for a little guidance.
Right now, I have a GeForce FX 5900XT video card (aftermarket cooling installed, overclocked with Rivatuner), AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2800+ (1.80 GHz), and a 2x512 sticks of DDR PC3600 RAM and one empty slot.
Yeah, yeah, I built it summer 2004, give me a break. It's old, so it deserves to be slow.
I'm curious if you guys knew of a relatively cheap video card I could purchase that would give me a good bang/buck performance increase on the Source engine games - it currently runs them pretty well at 1280x1024, but drops to about 20 fps in some firefights and exhibits the stuttering bug. I'm going to build an entirely new system next Christmas, but I'm looking for something that will keep my head above water until then.
Or would a cheap video card even help that much, or would an additional memory stick give a better combo?
Thanks a LOT in advance.
