in the video card section, wow, how'd a thunk it...?

I can get a PNY NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700 cheap, ~$50, what kind of work is this card meant for...? will it give me better performance for video processing/editing programs like virtual dub by offloading the work from thr cpu to the gpu...? as you can plainly see, I know absolutely nothing about this type of card except that it's no good for gaming...

if it wouldn't matter in virtualdub, what kind of programs would it give a boost to...?
 
That card is for CAD work, AutoCAD, 3dsMAX, Maya, ProE, etc
 
Virtualdub is cpu dependent. Sgrinavi has listed the most popular quadro beneficial apps
 
If you were able to software modify it into a Geforce card (and I'm not saying you can - assume not unless proven otherwise), it would be something vaguely similar to an 8400GS.
