Hey everyone.
First I'll give you my specs:
Xp Home
Abit IS7
Intel P4 2.6C
ATI Radeon 9800PRO 128mb (Catalyst 4.9 REGULAR - No CC)
1 gig of Ram
Ok, here's the issue.
When I first got the car (a little over a year ago) it ran beautiful (all I played was Counter-Strike). Then we started playing Desert Combat(BF1942). I used to play it at 1024x768x32 @ 75Hz with AA on 2X and AF on 4X. It would lag like a mofo when in battles (didn't even have to be heavy battles). So I'd have to play with AA and AF off, plus put my Video Setings at Medium rather than High (disabling Environment Textures and Shadows). Then it would run fine. Though a couple of times it would lock up completely and I would recieve a BUNCH of artifacts throughout my screen.
After a year or so, we went back to play CS:CZ. PLaying that, I could put AA on 4X and AF on 4X, and it ran with a little lag here and there - nothing big.
Then about a week ago, we started playin Desert Combat Final. When I first got in the game with Video settings on High an AA on 4X and AF on 4X I literally could not move. My FPS had to be about 10 if not LESS! I immediately got out of the game, turned AA and AF to Application Preference on my drivers then I once again took of Environment Textures and Shadows. Finally it ran O.K. - though it will STILL freeze at some points.
Now I PERSONALLY think that there is a major problem somewhere. I'm blaming it on the card first becuase, well it only happens in games. Though it could maybe be my CPU? I really doubt BF1942 should give a 9800PRO 128MB this much of a hard time . . .
Over the summer, I also played doom. I got between 50-60FPS standing still in lighted areas, otherwise it would be about 20-40, averaging in the low 30's. I had quality on medium and shadows ON. (AA was off . . . I think)
At one point I did 3Dmark03 and got 2086 If I recall correctly (It was in the LOW 2,000)
Aquamark I got 31,000 I believe.
Does this show either a setting is set wrong somewhere (Drivers, BIOS . . .)
Maybe I have to many process running right now there are 46 running.) When I play, theres usually 45 running (only have an IM program now, which I always close).
Any help would GREATLY be apprciated. I will be willing to run any diagnostic tests you guys want me to run.
Thank you in advance.
Jnick
