Hi, since video cards are using more and more power nowadays, I am trying to compile a list of power requirements of major chipsets so that people can figure out how big of a power supply to buy. Can anyone here give me the power requirements of the following video cards?

Radeon 8500 128MB AGP
Radeon 9000 128MB Pro AGP
Radeon 9100 128MB AGP/PCI
Radeon 9500 Pro
Radeon 9700 Pro
Radeon 9800Pro
Radeon X800Pro/XT

GeForce FX 5600/5700/5900
GeForce4 TI
GeForce 6800 GT
GeForce 6800 Ultra

Thanks

I think its safe to say the minimum you should be looking for these days no matter what card you are running is 400W+?

that's not the point. having a 400W power supply doesn't really give you enough info. Some 400W are built better and support more current on 12V line. So by adding the power requirements of each individual parts, one can better estimate which power supply he/she should buy.

For example, if you look at my sig, those dual athlons are drawing 100W each on the 12V line. Then I have a Radeon 9500 modded to 9700Pro then 2x PCI Radeon 9100s, 2 Optical Drives, 1 Hard Drive....etc...I don't think that my 500W power supply is enough. So to save the headaches of many people, i think we should find out clearly how much power those popular cards draw, considering people are looking at Nvidia SLIs in the future.

I saw it at some place that

Radeon 9100s - 35W
Radeon 9700s - 60W

please confirm?

some are running the 6800GT in a shuttle with a 250w ps, and an FIC ice-cube w/ 220W with no problems. It depends on the quality of the PS. btw, these guys are running @ ultra speeds.

I thought the Ultra has to be a min. of 350W to run? How did they get around w/ 220W to 250W?

And what about Power supply with PFC (Power Factor Correction)? When a video card co. come out w/ a requirement saying you need 350W power supply, needless to say, that is w/o PFC. What is the equivalent of a power supply with PFC rated at, compares to ones w/o PFC?

18 amps on the +12 for all

thats all you need, doesnt matter if its a 250 watt PSU...As long as you have the basic system this is all you need

Example
p4 3.0
1 hard drive
2 cd or dvd roms
mobo
couple pci cards
geforce 6800ultra

This could all be done on a 300watt PSU with 18 on the +12. (for something like an ultra though i would go with 21 on the +12, and with that a 250watt PSU would work even)

Here are some power requirements for some popular cards:
8500: 37.8w
9700pro: 70w
5200: 24.6w
5600: 26.5w
Ti4600: 48.6
