I just got my MSI Neo4 NF4 Ultra , Seagate 200gb SATA , WD Raptor SATA , 3500+ Winchester, and an x850 XT. I threw it all in there and fired it up and All I get is a message saying I need to connect the power cable to the video card, its... connected.... Any ideas anyone?

try a new molex eh? i remember a friend had a problem like this. the card power connector ended up being disconnected somehow, dont ask how. it was odd

Well its an x850 xt so I have to use that adapter. i have a molex connector goign into the adapter and it into the card.. Tried a diff molex connector.. no go...

You have the two molex into one PCI-E power adapter, right?

Doesn't work like that . On the PCI-E Power adapater there is the 6 pin adapter end. with only 2 wires going to it.... Then there are male and female molex ends on it.. One molex connector from the power supply goes into the adapter. the other end goes onto the hard drive. and the PCIe one into the card. i'm getting pissed....

Make sure the video card has a dedicated line from the PSU and that nothing else is plugged in on the same cable.

but it might be your PSU at fault. What type/wattage is your PSU? If its generic and 400w or under i'd be worried

The power supply has never been used. I got it a few months ago in anticipation of a new PC. Fortron 530w. Of course I wouldn't get it now ... 20 pin.. Anyways. I've tried sticking it on its own molex. Still no go. I went to Sapphire's site and I saw a lil thing about it saying to do it with the HD power ;\ . Tried that.. No Go. Whoever recommended this PS should die! (if thats the prob ;\ heheh)

Yes it does work like I said. On my cable, there are two molex's, going to the 6-pin plug. Each molex has 3 wires, when they come together for the 6-ping plug, it makes six. If your is not like that, thats probably the problem.

You need two free molex's, not some that are daisy chained from something else.

I've seen that kind of adapter but that is not the one that came with the card. I even looked at the ATI one on their site and its the same as the one I got. I've also seen those like you have. But thankfully I solved the problem. I ran to microcenter (25 mins away) and bought whatever PSU I could find that seemed decent with 24pin atx connector and 6 pin PCIe connector. I got the Enermax Noisetaker 420w because I know Enermax was trusted in the past.. SO ;\... But hey it seems to get the job done!.
