ok so i just gave a 4870 to a friend and he says its lagging and he had to turn all his sysem graphics he said his windows rating is 7.5 but he said the card isnt acting like it. ive never used the card before i had to get rid of it b.c i boought it on ebay and it wouldnt fit in my case. but my friends power supply blew up the other day too so could it have been damaged cuz of that?
 
1. Windows rating is a horrible benchmark and tells us nothing. What are the specs of the rest of his system? What CPU? How much RAM and how fast? If they are really old, they could be the problem.
2. Yeah, if his PSU was crappy enough to blow up, it could damage other stuff. I'm almost afraid to ask what PSU he's using now, but we need to know, because that could also be the problem.
3. If it came from eBay, the video card itself could be the problem too.

With this many problems, especially the exploding PSU, I don't know that this is going to end well.
 
well now he has a 950watt coolmax and he has 4 gigs of ram windows 7 64bit phenom II 655 and a 750gb hard drive.
