video card keeps resetting driver acceleration

i reformated my computer and installed latest windows updates, and ati 5.6 driver (radeon 9700 pro) Before i reformatted i had no problems running bf2, the game never locked up on me. Now bf2 locks up after 30-50 min into a game with the error message "ati has reset your driver acceleration", something like this. or message 2 comes up after my computer restarts from bf2 crash, and gives me links to ati latest drivers and windows updates. I have both the latest 5.6 driver and latest windows updates and the problem still occurs.

Anyone know how to fix this?? thanks
 
Installed motherboard drivers? If agp isn't active then... Also try reverting to older drivers and reinstalling BF2.
 
mother board drivers could be it, was too lazy to instal those other than network driver after reformating. ill try it and see if it works for me.
