This the first game you've ever played? Every game I own even the older ones have spots where my system can't hack it. Games go up and down all the time, it's the nature of it. As far as the driver issue go to www.ati.com and get the latest drvier. The latest driver offered for a 9600 Pro isn't from 04 it's actually a few days old.

If the only problem you're experiencing is a fps drop, its not your drivers. Both the game and the card are from '04 or well before that, so new drivers aren't going to help you anyway, at least with game performance.

FPS drop can be because of a great number of things, but you're probably just hitting unoptimized sections of code in the game, your system is choking, or your video card is just old and can't do what it used to. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I hope you didn't spend much on that card.

it is a 9600pro, friend has a 9200 pro with 120fps in source, i cant even get a steady 99fps in cs 1.6. and the driver from ati.com sucks, i had one downloaded from 04 on this site, and it was a lot better...http://www.guru3d.com/
