Noob on the forum here but have been asking around on a lot of other forums. Figured I'd ask the good people here what they think. I'm trying to plan a new build & really have a lot of questions. First off, I know I want to go PCI-E, I just don't know if I may want to go for an SLI setup in the future. I would like some opinions please. Should I get a x800xl & forget the SLI setup unless I buy 2 new cards in the future, or go with 1 6600gt & have the possibility for SLI down the road? I guess what I'm really getting at is which would be better for the long run, 1 x800xl or 2 6600gt's in SLI? (yes 6600gt not 6800gt)
All opinions will be appretiated. Thanks.

I think the X800XL would be better then 2 6600 GT's. A single 6800GT outperforms 2 x 6600GT's and the X800XL is neck and neck in the 6800GT, if not better then it in some areas. I'd suggest either going X800XL or getting a single 6800GT and save up for another one.

anything lower than 2x6800 GT shouldn't be considered for SLI. A better option might be to use the 6600 GT as a filler card until the next gen comes out. Totally depends on your money.

2 6800gt's? No, can't afford that. Wish I could!
Do you think the x800xl will hold me out pretty good for say 2-3 years?
