just got a hercules 9800xt 256mb, the display is damn hot. aerogate is detected the heatis sink temp up to 65C. the overdrive detecting core temp at 75C. even after installing vantec card cooler temp inly lower down by 10C. any recomendation on cooling the hottie?

I have a 9800 Pro and it's ridiculous how hot this thing gets, even though it was supposed to be cooller than the 256mb version.

Anyways I have lock ups all the time because everything gets so hot. It's probably slowly killing my card but I have limited options and space to get things cooled down, so I usually turn my pedastal fan on and allow it to take some idle heat away every now and then.

My case side is open but I dont have any auxillary fans, so things still heat up.

I have my setup on a Kitchen table for a desk... I love all the room and the case sits right there too with the side off so I can keep a close eye on it, as I said a single fan is all the extra cooling in my case this way and it blows directly at my video card

if you are wondering how to mount a fan with no bracket I made one quick from 2 plates from the empty pci slots with the 90 degree pieces opposit each other and to the outside...then tape them and tie-strap a fan on (2 fans fit really nice beside each other) then use an existing screw hole, or drill one, and install...
quick & painless.
