the core to my ti4200 is HOT. is there a way to check it's temperature?

Easy man, no need to be a dick.. anyway,
Beave: If your games and display are ok, there isnt much to wory about. Only when you start to see distortion corruption and glitches on your screen should you start to worry about temperature. Also, video cards generally run quite hot as they usually have much smaller cooling solutions. A Ti 4200 will not likely have an internal temp sensor so the only way to check is by means of thermometer.
