I just ordered a barton 2500+ with an abit nf-7 ver. 2.0. I have 512 mb ddr 3200 and am planning on oc'ing the cpu to 2.2ghz (xp 3200+)

Now i have a g3 ti 200 that i purchased about 2 months ago and i know this is gonna bottleneck my comp in game ( i think?). Anyway i need advice on a sub 200$ max video card that will not bottlneck my system.

i was thinking 9600 pro? or 9800 pro? or xt?
how bout geforce cards?

EDIT: Or should i just save 100$ and buy myself a geforce 4 ti ?

Your best bets for under $200 will be the FX 5900, FX 5900 XT, or 9800 Pro, I have used the 5900 and 5900 XT and there both good cards, (5900 XT is about 5% slower overall in benchmarks vs the standard 5900). 9800 Pro's are starting to show up at under or at $200 right now.

The card that I would suggest getting for the price concious tho is the 6800 non ultra at $300 it beats out both the 5950 Ultra and 9800 XT in most benches and is a good card especially if your considering playing Doom 3.

Also if your going to overclock your cpu, get an Athlon XP Mobile 2500 or 2600+ with a decent board with good voltage and multiplier adjustments (allthough you might have one already) they easily clock to beyond 3200+ speeds (2200 MHz on 200 FSB) I have mine running 2500 MHz on 166 FSB.

hey thx for the reply,
Right now im on an eXREMLY tight budget so 200$ is about all i can spend. I would probably save money and buy myself a 6800 but my system is too slow too handle the 6800.

EDIT: Just read a thread on this forum about softmod powercolor 9800se. How would that be paired up with my system? the saved money can go on another stick of 512 ram.

About the 2500+ mobile, i would have bought that but i got a good deal on the 2500+ with nf7-s combo. Anyway 2.2ghz still owns my super p4 733mhz comp :D

Don't know much about the ATI end of things ask around, im more of an Nvidiot ;)

And yes that 2500+ will be a MASSIVE upgrade vs a 733 Mhz puter.
