Well, for my first rig I have about $200 in the budget for a vid card. I've been loking into the Sapphire Radeon X800GTO, but was wondering if there's something at a similar price that would perform better? I'd prefer an oppinion from someone who has used both Nvidia and ATI cards. Thanks!

Could you provide a link to the specific one (newegg), for suggested manufacturer etc?

Doh... totally forgot about this one. Definatly a better choice.

OP: AGP or PCI-E? I'm assuing PCI-E... is the GTO in AGP?

GTO is best card under $200 weather it unlocks or not, APG or PCI-E :). They are pretty much x800pro's (475mhz/450mem) with the cores underclocked to 400mhz and memory overclocked 40mhz. Even thought the GTO core is stock 400mhz its still a R423 core so it should overclock to or past x800pro speeds. Plus some GTO have hte R480 cores that overclock to ~550mhz. The GTO's should give you the performance of a x800pro and looking at old reviews the x800pro is comparable to the 6800gt. That's without a modable card. Now if your on pci-e and get a modable GTO card, gg. Even if you get a 6800 and are able to mod it to all 16 pipes and 6 vertexs your still missing 128 MB of ram and its SLOW ram that no amount of overclocking will make up for.

3dconnect x800GTO PCI-E are modable ~$185

add my Connect3D X800GTO to the list of successful 16 pipe unlocks..
I'm currently, yet slowing, burning in the core, got the core at 500 right now...
The stock cooler on this card is pretty decent, for mild to moderate overclocking...
temps haven't got above 71C, with a load, and idles around the 37-39C range..
I only have two 120mm Vantec stealths in my mid tower case also...

In addition to this, I ran ATI Tool, running the Find Max Core tool, and forgot about it, and realized later on my computer was locked up...
I checked the ATI Tool log file, and noticed that the point it locked up was with the Core at 660Mhz..

I'd be safe to say, I have a little headroom for this R423 core

mine as well i want to sel my x800 xt and get one just so i can unlock it iono wierd huh?

If u could give up another $50 i think either best buy or circuitcity has a deal for $250 for an X850XT agp, now that price/performance.

So would y'all suggest the X800PRO over the X800GTO? I know the pro is more, but value wise? And what exactly is PCI-E?

PCI-E = PCI Express. And if you don't know it from that, well I fear we are in trouble...
