I bought a 4850 last week for my Samsung 19" 1400x900. I have since traded the 19" for a 22" 1920x1080. I was originally going to pick up another 4850, but now I am not sure. Should I pick up another 4850, look for 2 4870 1gigs, a 4890 or a single Nvidia card? Also, I will have to upgrade my old powerstream 520. Would a branded 850 be enough for the 4870/4890 xfire?

Depending on the games you play, a 4850 will be powerful enough.

Would the GTX 260 with 1 gig of vram be better than the 4850s xfire with 512?

No, the 4850s xfire would beat out the single 260. I am a fan of Xfire and SLI but some arent. I'd say with the prices of the 4870 1 gigs, id Xfire those

I would say a single card would be better than xfire since you can always add one later, so a hd 4890 would be good and they are nice and cheap now.

Runnings a gtx 260(216) for my 22" 1920x1080 monitor. PLENTY of power for everything (except crysis, but it does acceptable for that also)

a single 4850 512 maxes out most games at 1080p for me without aa and with 16 af

4850 prices seem to be dropping pretty hard. I'd pick another one up if you can find a good deal on it.

4890 for that res. Gives you plenty of headroom for newer games.

Hang onto the single card for now and wait for the next generation of GPUs... you could probably still max everything out at that res. My 1gb 4870 can max everything out at that res with anywhere from 2-8xAA, depending on the game.

Crysis runs on high.

This guy has it right. The 5 series will offer awesome performance/dollar, and then another 4850 will be dirt cheap. Your single 4850 will be good at that res, provided you don't try to max Crysis or anything.
