Video card false returns (Dont kill me)

Have any of you guys bought a video card and later returned it. Instead of returning the new card you return your old card and keep the new 1. This way you get a new video card free.

Have any of you guys done this my friend suggested this when i burnt my x800xl.

I know you guys are gonna be pissed that i even asked this.

But can i do this and not get arrested lol?
(im 14 and usuccsefully volt-modded my x800xl and i dont have the money for a new one)

Is this a valid tactic?
