Video Card Driver

I have a 8800gt installed in a dell xps 420 upgrading to a 9800gx2. I have the latest driver installed which is 175.16 release date 5/16/08 which supports the 9800gx2. Do I have to remove the driver that is currently installed and reinstall the same driver?

It's always best to uninstall the driver and shutdown instead of rebooting as Windows prompts.
Remove old card/install new and boot up then install the driver.
