My setup is in my sig, in addition, my PSU is an Enlight 420W. So the story is, I have long declared my system rock solid, having done extensive amount of Prime95 and other stability tests. However, I never did any extensive testing in games since I no longer really have much time for games. So for the past week or so, I started playing Diablo 2 again, but about every 1-3 hrs, the video would crash. The screen garbles up with artifacts and everything freezes, after a few seconds, it seem to recover because the music resumes. But the screen is still garbled up. If I exit the game (blind keystroke, I remember the key sequence), I return to the desktop. It looks like desktop is all done in software rendering, i.e. any window animation is very very slow. It's almost as if ATI's VPU Recovery kicked in. At this point, I would restart the computer and everything returns to normal once it reboots.

What could the problem be? I've never had a problem when I have my vid card in my last system (Athlon XP 1600). Could it be the PSU? The voltage readings seem pretty stable. I've had issues with running the card at AGP 8X that caused massive instability. I backed it down to AGP 4X and everything was great. Any help or insights are appreciated!

Looking over your issue, I have to say that dropping the agp bus to 4x seems like a bandaid cure to a problem. Instead of adressing the infection the cut can cause you applied a bandaid. No offense. I think the card should run as intended, as agp 8x. That is the first indication there is a problem. Get the latest bios for the mobo, Get the latest chipset drivers I believe that mobo has a via chipset. for their latest drivers go to www.viaarena.com. Also Make sure you are running the latest Catalyst drivers and use driver cleaner to do a clean install. Finally if your card crashes on Diablo 2 do not attempt to play fear with soft shadows Your Rig will explode sending shards of glass through your room.

Oh yeah, Once you got all of this done put agp bus back at 8x. If It can't run 8x after all of this look into updating the vga bios and if still no good RMA it. Just some things to try. ;)
