Hi! Can anyone recommend me a video card that is under $70? I will temporairly use it until I can afford an X800 XT PE. It will be paired with a mobile 2600, dfi nfii infinity, 512mb mushkin pc3200, and a WD 80gb SE. Thanks!

Try looking around for TI4200s. They may be a little more than $70, but will beat the piss out of anything else in the price range.

Theres no reason for ANYONE to buy a Geforce FX 5200. It's performance is subpar and too close to the Geforce 4 MX 440. Which was BELOW the Ti4200 from the generation before it.

The 5200 is one of the worst video cards EVER made. They are crap performers and not worth the money. Any Geforce 4 Ti4000 series card is the superior sub $100 card in my book. Although you can get 9600's now for just a little more which would be better still.

If I were you i wouldn't by ANYTHING refurbished from newegg. Lets just say they dont have the best reputation in the refurbished dept. It's a gamble, and if theres something wrong with it, dont count on getting it replaced :
;)

the ECS 9200 w/128M memory and VIVO is only $51 at TheEgg, I got one for my backup machine, really nice bargain....great place to stick my homeless 9800pro stock HSF ;-)

I got a refurbished Gainward Ti4200 from Newegg.com and it worked out great.
Really it depends on the company supplying Newegg.com with the refurbished parts.

Just thoroughly test the product when you get it and if it doesnt work talk to a rep and they'll usually spot you the shipping fee for the RMA.

I got a refurb 9600XT from the egg. It worked great right outta box!!! oh and it was only $121!

I just bought that Abit OTES card refurb from newegg. Got it a few days ago, works great. O/Cs decent, but I can tell someone used it. My bios was edited to have stock speeds of 275/513 and my ram has residue of looks from the use of ram sinks. Who ever had this card did not O/C the memory close to its max, missed by about 25-30MHZ. Trust me its a good buy. I lost my 9700Pro the same way.

EDIT*** YOu are warned, the fan is bloody loud, unless you alreay have a noisy case, stay away from this card.

P.S. Who ever said newegg's refurb stuff sucks, is wrong. I have bought a 9700Pro, a Asus board, the GF4 4200, and a few othe things, and all work fine. Friends have done the same. Neweggs refurbs are real bargins IMO, and I will contiune to buy them.

Refurbished cards would be a gamble, otherwise go for Radeon 8500's or 9100, infact even Radeon 9600 non pro is not that expensive can always get that

I went ahead and oredered the Abit OTES TI4200 last night. I don't really mind it being loud because I will have a 92mm tornado in that box. Thanks so much, everyone!

ya its like 250/500 I think are stock speeds, and mine are 275/513 :) Buts its ok. I can run every game just fine with mid to high details, 1024 or 800-600 res.
