Hey, I think this belongs here but I could be wrong - if it should be moved please let me know - or if you have the power just go ahead and do so
I have a Hi8 video camera that was given to us ~9 yrs ago when my first daughter was born. Most of the important events of the past 9 years are on Hi8 tapes (looks like a mini VHS tape). I would like very much to copy all of these to my computer so that I can burn them to DVD.
The camera has R/W/Y output (Right/Left/Video) as well as an S-Video out.
What kind of card do I need to do this? I really don't need a card with cable/FM tuners do I?
I am currently ordering parts for a new computer and was going to go with a 8800GT for the video card but I dont believe these have any type of capture capability. I wouldnt mind a second PCI type card as long as the cost isnt out of line (I think anything more than $100 is probably a no-go for just a capture card)
I'm really in the dark here so any information - no matter how basic - would be appreciated.
Thanks a ton for reading!
