I have a video capturing device from Pinnacle and would like to start putting it to use.

I still have my Antec NSK2480 case laying around so I would like to put it to use if no one ends up buying it. So this will be the case of my build.

I don't have a set budget for this just yet, but I do not want to spend tons on it, as I'm trying to put some extra cash aside to complete my gaming PC. The capture device works through USB.

================

The Questions.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Video Capture/Editing.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Open ended, preferably under $600ish but I only need a few parts as I have extras laying around, Tax/Shipping included.
3) Where do you live?
California.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
CPU, RAM, Mobo, DVD-RW, Maybe a HDD.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Case/PSU, I also have a Coolermaster RC690 laying around if I need to go bigger. WD Green 7200RPM 1TB, WD Black 7200RPM 500GB, Mouse/Keyboard, PCI-E EVGA 8600GT 256mb can be used as a Temp card.
6) Will you be overclocking?
If the Proc isn't acceptable at stock speeds, yes.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
22" Asus, or 32" Toshiba HDTV LCD.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
As soon as I have the parts planned.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
USB 2.0 (I doubt this capture device could utilize 3.0), I like having eSata as an option.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
Windows 7 standing by.

================

The stuff I've been looking at:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-MA785GMT $89
Proc: AMD Athlon II X3 435 Rana 2.9GHz $75
RAM: OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 $85
DVD Drive: ASUS DRW-24B1ST $25

Total: $305.20 after Tax + S/H.

I was looking at a XFX HD-4850 1GB but would I need a big video card for simple editing and capture?
Thoughts? Suggestions? Questions?

That's quite a deal on the 630. I don't venture to Amazon often so I forget that it's also an option.

You're building a whole new system just to capture video? What's your current system? :p

Anyhow, g's suggestions look good. If you're near a Microcenter, you can pickup the Ph2 550BE and 785G Asus mATX board for $140. If you're near a Fry's, the Ph2 550BE is only $70. ;) Most Ph2 X2 chips will unlock if the manufacture date is pretty recent -- all you need is a board with SB710 or SB750.

I've never unlocked a BE before, but I hear it's pretty easy. I'm not near a Microcenter, but I'm somewhat close to a Fry's (About 45min). I want a new system because I'd like to keep it next to the TV, and don't want to switch back and forth tasks for it, it may be converted to a HTPC sometime in the future.

+1 on the PII X2 550

building 2 rigs with that chip for buget minded friends.

you just need a MOBO with ACC, either the 785 or 790 chipset, do not go anything else :)

for video capture, you dont need a 4850 but it might be worth it to get the the new 5k series, the 5570 or 5670 might be worth looking at for a simlar price, and 3x monitors and HDMI and whatnot.

The 770T w/ SB710 will work fine, too, for unlocking, but these are typically ATX size instead of micro.
