I've heard that some cards have the HDTV capabilities? Is it those x800 with VIVO? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be more specific. HDTV output, ... HDTV tuning, what do you mean?

HDTV tuning probably. Where you can plug an HDTV cable into the vidcard or something. sorry for the noobness of this question. like tv recording capabilities.

Add to the above that any tuner card will be over the air broadcasts only. As far as I know due to the various different standards within the cable industry and the way the HD signals are transmitted / decoded nobody makes a HD tuner card that works with cable.

Both seem to claim to support on air or cable.

Yup, so you may be able to get your HD local channels through cable, but you won't be able to get things like ESPNHD, DIscoveryHD, HBOHD, etc.
