Ive got a antec 900 case, modded a bit to fit a 240 gtx radiator with a radbox on the back. I got the fans blowing air from the case outward through the rad.

The problem with this is my 280GTX is shooting its hot air right through the rad, heating it up during games. Anybody have any ideas to work around this?

use a peice of cardboard to make a deflector so that it deflects all the air coming from your video card away from your rad?

That or can you change your video cards postition? Or re-mnount your rad in a different postition?
 
I think that the vid card has to be inserted in the first slot to work correctly, or so says the mobo manual.

The antec 900 case doesnt provide too many feasible mounting positions, its not watercooling friendly.

I was thinking about making a deflector, the case is clean, and I didnt want to make it look "rigged up" Guess I can give it a shot. I just had some fruit delivered (dont ask) so I have some of that thermal material I can cut.
 
Did you add a 120mm fan to the side case panel? It might help with fresh air being sucked into the case and help offset the heat the GTX is putting out. At the very least, it should help the Rad with more volume of air.
 
Yea, I have a side intake, with two front intakes. With the huge fan on the top airflow is not a problem inside the case.

The GTX pushes the hot air it generates out through its own exhaust which it then sent right through the rad. :(
 
Well, the next thing you could try which is pretty inexpensive, is to add a PCI slot fan one to two slots away from the GTX to help vent some of that hot air out of the case. If you can divert some of that hot air it might cut back on the hot air from being drawn out via the rear exit and through the rad.

But here is another question for you... Has it been hot outside since you've added the GTX 280? Is it possible that your ambient room temp has risen around the same time you installed the card? Its hard to gauge since summer means higher idle and load temps. Just a thought.
 
I have a similar issue w/ my OCZ psu ...it blows hot air into the middle part of my 3 x 120 rad..so I made a deflector out of a flap from a cardboard box. It's not exactly pretty, but it's redirecting the air to the side.
 
why can't you just buy a waterblock and put the 280 in the loop?
 
He just buought a 280, do you think he has the money to add them to the loop? lol
