I did my PC upgrade for all but my video cards a few months back (I7 930, 6GB, etc...)
What I am running is Win 7 but I used my old video cards ( two X1950XTX in crossfire) It was a bastardized thing...had to use old vista beta drivers, etc...

I really don't want to spend any money to go with the cards I would like (5970) right now, but since I have a $100 gift card to burn up, I saw some good prices on evga 9800GT cards, $39/ea from tiger direct.

The question is, would 9500GT in SLI perform better than x1950XTX in Crossfire. If so, I might buy two of those. If not, what woult be better for around $100?
 
Thanks, I'll take your advice. I was just hoping for a decent upgrade for minimal layout.

I do have those drivers, thought they were beta for some reason.
 
On second thought...I'm glad I waited. I think the 460 1GB is just at the perfect price/performance point for me. I think I'll throw that gift card and add $130 cash to get one.

There is definitely not $200 worth of difference in performance between the 460 and a 5870...and consider I can upgrade to two 460's for another $230, getting almost 5970 performance for just over $400 is killer.
