Hello all, I am looking to upgrade my GPU (6600GT) to play games like L4D. The card will be coupled with an AMD Athlon X2/ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. Since this computer is quite old I don't want to spend much at all and will be looking for a used card. I was hoping you guys could give me some suggestions on a vid card fitting my needs, thanks :D.

Sounds like a 5670 maybe a option worth considering if you are only playing games like L4D. Anything higher then that will start to get bottlenecked by the Athlon X2 (That CPU and board rocked btw).

What PSU do you have and what resolution are you playing at though?

I have a 420W PSU and I'll be playing at 1280x1024 resolution. Thanks for the suggestion.

Use care when upgrading to a PCIe 2.0 video card and running it on Nforce 4 motherboards. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't - and it usually varies from one motherboard to another.

The PCIe 1.0a spec had not been released yet at the time.

Yeah don't go any higher then that 5670 or there is a high chance the PSU will not put up with the strain. The 5670 doesn't use that much power, so you are in luck.

a brand new 5670 can be found for under 60 bucks.

btw saying you have an X2 doesn't mean much because they have a wide range of models. please list ALL of your specs in detail.

There used to be a lot of deals on the GT240 GDDR5. I used to see it a lot in the $30 range. I bought one for $13.6
