Vid Card Performance in MMOG's

Hey there....

I can't seem to find any tests which would indicate which cards are best at massive multiplayer online games (i.e. EQ, DAoC, etc.).

Is anyone aware of any tests or benchmarking that has been done on any other sites? Or any other comparable tests (i.e. if the card scores high in HL2 it will do well on MMOG's)?

Any chance of [H] adding something like this to one of their benchmarks?

Thanks

Me.

That would be interesting to be able to benchmark some of those games.

Especially DAoC since that is the one game I spend most of my spare time playing.

I really don't think there would be anyway to benchmark it unless the developers put out something that would allow them to work with a demo that could be the same every time.

you can do a rough one with FRAPS....

Yes Fraps would work, but the difficulty stems in doing the same thing with the same amount of action near you.

Although maybe in some desolate area that is possible.

Then there is also the consideration of the review sites having to pay a monthly fee just to be able to benchmark it. Unless the reviewer actually plays the game. =P

Yes, the ffxi demo does give a semblance of a benchmark. Although as far as framerate all you can do is watch it and see where it slows down and if it seems playable.

Take the Q3 demo, you can definitly tell whether or not what speeds make the game playable and non-playable. Because you know exactly how fast everything is suppose to be moving.

In the ffxi demo you can only guess on certain speeds because most of us have no idea how certain things are suppose to move, or even how fast the camera is suppose to move.

system in sig

Low on Earth and beyond: 24 FPS 1600x1200 AA AF full

thats being in a party of 4 with all dmg and moving or at a gate

usualy- 60fps during most everything
