Ive been reading around the memory forum and various websites seeing that there is not much benifit from dual channel in an athlon xp system. I was thinking of getting a 2x256 set of corsair xms before.

Im trying to upgrade a little for doom3 and HL2

I have a barton 2500 on an nforce 2 ultra mb which I plan to oc to 3200 after modding my case for better airflow (its an older case).
512 pc3200 (generic)
radeon 9000pro 128

Now should I grab a better stick of ram 1GB single?
A cheaper pair of 1GB dual (don't really trust value ram though)?
or get a
9800 pro 128MB?

ps. didn't want to post this in the Doom3 flooded gaming sub forum (can't wait till thats over)

Wth is a 9000pro? Normally I would say ram but I think I'll have to agree with the gentleman above ^^

Radeon 9000 pro, they still make them...not bad for entry into the generation radeons (i ran far cry fine at 1024x768) and it has given me solid performance, im just looking for that extra push

Although I am still trying to stay a generation behind to avoid the prices of the x800s or 6800, besides I am still cpu limited (waiting for AMD to stop screwing around with the 64bit options) and I wouldn't get much from the new fangled cards

512mb of ram will still suffice atm, the 9800 pro will greatly improve your setup, going from playing at 800x600@low to 1024x768@medium on D3
