im planning on buying a hdtv in the near future, possibly a lcd, and id like to game on it. i wanna play on the highest resolution my future tv would game at (720p/1366x768) and was wondering what kinda card would be powerful enough to run the newest games at a good fps on the highest settings. im guessing a 6800/7800 series, but ive been out of the video card loop since i bought my 9800 pro, so im not sure.

also, would sli be a safer bet, or would that be overkill or unneccasary.

At 720p a 7800GT would be more than enough. You could probably even use a 6800GT
 
But the 7800 series supports H.264 acceleration. I would go for that.
 
ok cool thanks for help. im guessin sli would be a wast of money then huh? never heard of h.264 b4, guess i gotta look into that
 
h.264 is a newer codec commonly used for high definition video and it takes alot of cpu horsepower so having acceleration on the card helps alot.
 
Exactly what Flak Monkey said. Quicktime 7.0 supports H.264. There are some test videos for it. Some trailers done in H.264. Go check out the minimum requirements for Quicktime and H.264 on Apple's site.

You'll want all the CPU/memory and video card you can get for it, if your interested in HD stuff. BTW SLi would theoretically be faster at it, but I can't back that up.
