Jeez.

Does VIA's onboard sound always sound like crap?

I've been using Nforce's Soundstorm for a year+ but my motherboard fried yesterday so I got a cheap replacement VIA mobo.

Tried to use their onboard sound, it seriously sounds like friggin' crap, you can't hear the bass at all.

Or is there something I'm doing wrong?

My SBLive seems to have some kind of conflict with this mobo. It just won't work! It hangs when its installing the drivers.

I don't see any hyperion drivers.

The thing is, everytime I put my sblive into my pc, it will detect it, but then while the bubble in the systray is showing "Sound Blaster Live! Detected".

The system will hang.

Thanks,

Installing the hyperion drivers.

I'm at the "audio" section under the downloads. There's a big list and I got no idea which file to download.

VIA Incoporated into "VT82C......." southbridge
VIA Incoporated into "VT<random number>" southbridge
.
.
etc.

You get updated 'chipset' drivers fron viaarena, then you get the audio drivers from the download section at realtek.

It would be usefull to know what Motherboard this is you're using. I mean they seem to be using many different audio chipsets these days. MSI for example uses a Realtek Chipset for the KT6V series, while they use a CMedia chipset for the KT6 Delta series... Did you try your SBLive after installing the Hyperion drivers?
