vhs to dvd (wrong forum?)

ok i own 3 movies the original cuts of the star wars trilogy, i don't like the new versions..

so i wanna copy the movies to my computer and then to dvd using my sony digital8 cam and firewire card but get a "copy inhibit" message everytime i try

so i was wondering if i purchased a video in card if i would be able to connect my vcr to my computer to make these copys.. if so please suggest a card that is not to expensive
