VGA to DVI connector?

Well, I've got one which came with my 6800, but whenever I try to use it on my TFT monitor, it just goes blank. Is there any specific reason? I plug the DVI end into my 6800 and the VGA connector into my monitor's connector.

nope, some of the cheaper (17" and under, mainly) have VGA only - mines a TFT LCD and its got only VGA, its a 17"
