vga to dvi adapter effect

as I have decided to get the lg 24" monitor which sadly comes without dvi, what effect would the vga to dvi adapters that come with modern video cards (8800gt) have on quality. obviously it doesnt have too great an effect as the people of this board generally regard the lg as having very good colors, and response times so i am unaware what effect it would have.

is the adapter purely to be able to connect or are some/all of the benefits of dvi present?

would i be better off getting a dvi-hdmi cable like the 3 monitor showdown guy did?


edit: it looks like the lg comes with a hdmi-dvi adapter. im not sure the effect on quality but i guess i will be staying digital
