I have had one of these in my room for a couple of months now and recently had the time to put it on my card. After booting up the system and reaching around the back to feel the air that would be blowing out, I was stunned. Air was blowing in to the case! To make sure I opened up my window and took a feel right next to the fan and it blew onto my finger. What is the problem? Defect? or is that the way it is supposed to be. I remember someone before commenting on his sucking air in to.

It seems to be in the right way, the long vertical white piece of the plug fits flush into the socket. I couldn't see it going in any other way. Any other reasons?

Stop and look at the fan and watch it spin up, what direction is it spinning? It should be spinning counter clockwise like mine does.

It spins counter-clockwise which means it is sucking air in because of the way the fan blades are angled.

Mine spins clockwise and I think that's how it was designed.
If you wanna remove the switch, connect the RED/Yellow and leave the black floating. That's the full speed setting. Worked for me.

wait i thought that was the premise of the silencer. it was supposed to take the cool outside air and push it over the gpu.

No, its supposed to suck air in from the case and blow it out the back.

And mine rotates counter clockwise and blows out, so I dunno about yours.

I would also say be very careful not to mistake back-pressure for a reversed fan. You may feel air blowing back from the fan in certain places due to back pressure. (Or whatever the technical term is)

If the fan is in fact running in reverse, it wouldn't be all that efficient because this is a blower, not an axial fan. Also, the air coming out of the fan would be hot when you are loading the card.

I am not near my silencer now so I can't check it's direction.

BTW, regardless of which direction it is or isn't blowing, is it cooling your card?

Looking from bottom up or from top to bottom? Mines counter-clockwise from bottom up

no its fine, that is how it is. the fan is just too strong and there is no real design that will blow 100% of the air out. if you play a game for 10 mins the feel the back you will realize the hot air being blown out, its not much but that is the design and it does work.

but yes i freaked out at first and was making sure the fan was moving in the right direction and everything.. but that is how it is.

Dude, your making this WAAAY harder then it should be.

THeres only one way to look at the fan man, from the top where you can ACTUALLY see it. From that view, it should be spinning counter clockwise

Ok sorry for the troubles, mine is spinning correctly then. I reached around back after turning my exhaust fan off and warm air is slowly exiting. Thanks!

Quick question, since you guys are the gurus of this. Would the VGA silencer fit correctly and easily on a BBA 9600xt?
