VGA or HDMI

Hey guys,
I have a le26s86bd Samsung 66cm TV. The max resolution seems to be 1366x768.
It has HMDI and VGA Inputs.

I am building a Media PC. Should I buy an HDMI cable even though I can get 1366x768 with the VGA cable that I already own? Will the image quality improve? The graphics card on the media PC has DVI and HDMI outputs (and I have a DVI to VGA cable).

Sorry, I am a total noob when it comes to monitors and TVs.

Thanks,

Arthur

Definitely go HDMI. VGA for me is slightly blurry. VGA is an analog signal while HDMI (and DVI) is all digital.

In terms of quality of the signal you will not see any difference.

There can however be quite a large difference in how the TV processes the signals from the VGA or HDMI port. For computer use VGA is often better since it's assumed that you will hook your computer up with VGA. HDMI on the other hand is more likely to be used with a blu-ray player and that sometimes means that movie-specific features are used.

Seeing as how you build a MediaPC I guess that it will most likely be used for movies etc. and unless someone can comment on that specific TV/series I'd probably get both and try them out. Or if you are happy with what you get today you could be satisfied with that.

Don't spend too much on the HDMI cable. They are under $10 at monoprice.com.
