I have a VF900 Fatal1ty and it cools great but the little fan on it is sooo loud. I'm using the Fan-mate2 and have it on its lowest setting but still by far its the loudest thing in my case. Think it be possible to take that little fan off and mount a big fan right on top of the VF900? Think it would cool as well? Any Ideas?

it doesn't hurt to try since it's too loud at lowest. You can also try placing a good fan next to it.

The VF900 already uses an 80mm x 15 mm open-frame fan. Because of this size, finding a replacement would prove difficult. look to getting a standard 80mm fan, cu the frame off, and mount with zip-ties.

If you want to get fancier. get a 92mm fan, cut out the frame, and space it out from thw center of the cooler. This will allow the fan blades to cover the entirety of the coolers fins. Make a cheap shroud to keep the airflow concentrated to the cooler, and you'll have something that SHOULD be quieter, and cooling better. However, this will make you video card take up 3 slots, and it's much more trouble than if you just bought a better cooler. What card are you trying to cool?

A 4850, i was under the impression that it was one of that better VGA coolers? I was just gonna zip tie a big fan on top of the fins blowing down on it.
