i recently reformatted my hard drive and i put some of the filed i wanted to keep on a USB hard drive. when i went to copy the files back on to my newly formatted computer (all same OS, hardware), all i got was an "access denied" error message. the folder is copied but the files are not there. i have some more files that i got from another machine and it copies fine.

Can somebody help?

did you make sure that you "ejected" the device before removing it? Sometime if you remove a device too quickly after you wrote to it, the computer doens't have a chance to finish writing the changes.
