I woke up this afternoon after went down to do some laundry and noticed that one of my T260s was laying face down on the table. I got my desktop out of sleep mode and lo and behold, half of the screen is black and different shades of blue, in outlines of a spiderweb crack. Not sure how the monitor fell or what sharp edged object if fell on. These cracked pictures appear to be from some inner layer of the monitor screen, as the outmost visible part remains intact.
My guess is that the monitor is now "totalled" (to speak in car insurance terms). Or is there a way to fix this? I bought it used off craigslist, so there's no talk of warranty. I can't afford to buy another one right now, or even for a while (damn child support).
I've been playing Dirt 3 and other games on NVidia Surround, and I don't think I can go back to single monitor. I've been so upset about this I think I've been snapping at my kids unnecessarily.

The panel is probably broken... you might be able to find a replacement part on eBay, (maybe find an AS IS T260 that won't power on or something), but most likely it's totaled.

Yeah, laptop panels are fairly easy to come by anymore (but many times not cheap). Standard monitor panels... I don't think you can even buy separately. A T260 with a dead PSU is your best bet, as Zinn said, but there's no way to know the panel is good if you buy it "as is" so you may end up with less cash and nothing but more broken shit to show for it.

I agree, time to seach eBay...but on a side note, dude...you should WANT to support your child, not bitch about it.

I support my children and always have. Problem is I'm paying like she doesn't have a job, when she makes as much as I do. Besides they spend more time with me than what the papers say. Guys always get screwed when it comes to custody battles. But that's not what we are discussing, right?

On a side note, I think I have a suspect. My girlfriend's cat. When down to the basement to find him on the table.

I'm a soon-to-be lawyer in a strongly conservative state (I'm in the process of getting a divorce, no kids, I was the sole source of income /via student loans/ 90% of the entire marriage, which lasted less than a year) and am terrified I'll still end up paying alimony somehow (even though it would make zero sense!) because courts here out-and-out hate men when it comes to marital issues and things like custody. Period. Yes, guys get screwed. It's purely a question of how much, to what degree. My only reassurance is that there were no children. So glad I didn't make that mistake.

Cats... I <3 cats but they'll climb anything. I bet there was a bug or something on the wall above the monitor and the cat was all "fuck that bug I'll eat its soul" (have you ever seen a cat with no skin? One look at the mouth... They're killing machines. THEY HAVE NO CRUSHING TEETH, their mouths are full of daggers and scissors.) and jumped on the monitor, then from there. Boom. :(

I'm in Michigan. In the process of having it reviewed by the friend of the court. Fingers crossed. I shouldn't be paying anything.

I blame myself for the monitor. I left a part on the table and when the cat tipped the monitor it fell on the edge of it (I think it was a card reader or something.). Oh well.

That IS a pretty sad day. You might be able to pick up an old monitor for free off craigslist or local yard sale.
