Very strange problem, HELP

Ok, I'm stumped.

Yesterday I finally recieved my psu in the mail, which was the last piece of equipment I was waiting for before moving my system into the Lian Li PC65 that I bought. The psu is Aerocool's AeroPowerII+ 550 watt unit.

So, I went to work. I installed the new heatsink (Thermalright SP97) using Arctic Silver 5 while strictly following the directions from Arctic Silver's web site. This wasn't the first time I've changed heatsinks on this barton, so it wasn't like I didn't know what I was doing. That went smoothly and heatsink part was finished. I installed a 92mm Vantec Tornado on it.

I also bought the CoolerMaster CoolDrive4 hdd cooler/fan controller, so I fastened my WD 120GB hdd into the CoolDrive4 and plugged in the unit's power. I also hooked up the Tornado to the controller.

I then just installed everything else normally, plugged everything in and when I went to boot it up.......everything in the system turned on, but nothing came up on the screen. I checked everything inside, and it was all working. All the fans were running, the drive lights were on, the mobo's lights were on, the fan on my 9800 Pro was running, and my 2 cold cathodes were on and bright. My monitor was plugged in snugly but I got absolutely nothing on-screen. My mouse light did not go on either.

Anyone know what's wrong? I just came back from CompUSA and the only thing we could come up with was that maybe the 9800 Pro was sending its signal through DVI, but that wasn't the case either, as I found out when I got home. I'm stumped. Please help me:confused:

P.S. The hdd light on the front of the case stays solid red, if that helps at all.
 
try clearing the bios. if that doesnt work, try swapping the ram with some spares if you have any. also, try another power supply to make sure the one you got wasnt defective.
 
Just installed my 9500np and had no luck. Same thing happened. I'm thinking it might be the hdd but I can't think of why. Maybe it's not getting enough power or maybe something's wrong with the ide cable. Who knows. I'm running out of patience.
 
Pull out a piece of hardware that is required to post. Say like the RAM or the videocard. Then turn the machine on and see if you receive any beeps. If you don't receive any beeps, then you may have a defective motherboard, or maybe you somehow managed to damage it upon installation. I had a similar problem, did a major hardware upgrade(RAM, CPU) on a motherboard but after the new hardware install the thing wouldn't post, monitor would get no signal etc. So i pulled all the new stuff out put the old stuff back in, still nothing. Cleared BIOS, nothing. Pulled the RAM out, no beeps, did the same with videocard, no beeps. Went to store and bought a new motherboard and the thing ran great after that, I had to reinstall OS due to the motherboard change though but after that it was fine.
 
If the motherboard's self error checking goes fine when you boot it up, then that means that the problem should lie in your CPU. When i had first recieved my system, i had the same problem, but in the end, i replaced my CPU and it all worked flawlessly
