I'm a first time builder mid-operation, and I just ran across something that stumped me.

The case that I'm using is a Thermaltake Tsunami with 3 fans. One in the front, one in the back, and one on the side. I'm not sure which fans are designated which. For instance, there is a slot for a Northbridge fan, a CPU fan, a system fan, and I think 1-2 aux fans.

The northbridge stuff I could find on-line states that it's a fan that goes on the CPU, but I thought that would be the CPU fan slot. Any assistance would be helpful, thank you in advance.
 
I don't know what the difference between them is.

My motherboard has slots for:
CPU fan
System fan
Auxiliary fan 1 + 2
Northbridge fan

So the CPU fan is the fan that came with the retail CPU I take it.
One of the Aux fans is my power supply fan.

But yet I don't know which fan, the back one or the front one, is the northbridge fan and which one is the system fan, if either are.
 
Do you have a KV8 Pro?
Anyway, your CPU fan plugs into the CPU fan header.
Your northbridge is also known as the Chipset, which is probably somewhere near your CPU and has some form of heatsink on it, if not a fan. Like my KV8-Pro, it has a northbridge fan header, but it does not really need a northbridge fan. It's okay to leave that one disconnected, if the motherboard did not come with a fan on it already.
The rest, e.g. sys fan and aux fans, are for you to use at your pleasure. Those are for your case fans usually.
If you don't have enough fan connectors, and your Northbridge fan connector isn't used, you can surely plug in a system fan into it, I think they run at the same voltage.

++ If you are talking about your Power Supply fan, it probably has a connector that has only one wire, yellow. It is not absolutely necessary, you only connect it if you want to monitor your Power supply fan's RPM.

LOL sure thing. KV8 Pro happens to be one of the very few boards which have 5 fan headers on them.
I guess that's what nerds are for, eh? :D
