Very serious computer problems (several)

Sounds like you have a bad mobo. That is, if you are absolutely sure you have connected everything correctly (ie power switch, etc).

Try testing your memory and if possible, perhaps a different PSU. If those two pass, it is most likely your mobo.

The Problem:-
This all happened after my CDRom drive died.

How & why did it die ?
Have you anything plugged in that slot ?

Strip it down to minimum specs.
You just want PSU, MoBo, CPU & HS, Vid Card, One stick of RAM.
Will it boot up into the bios everytime with that config.
If not then one or more of thoes five parts is at fault.
Its hard to go much further without spare parts you can swop in to help eliminate good parts from bad.
Post results.

Luck........ :D

It died of old age (5 years old I believe). The DVD Burner has replaced it.

Part strip was the first thing I did, didn't help.

I'm thinking it's gotta be either PSU went bad shorting the optical drive and making everything else buggy, or the mobo went bad, or a combination of the 2 in a chain reaction.
