Whenever I open something up that isn't at my HP w2408h's 1920x1200 Native resolution, I have an issue where the right half of the screen shears back and forth. I can play Cryostasis and F.E.A.R 2 etc at 1920x1200, crossfire enabled, and no issues. If I try to open up something at a lower res (like Furmark, 3dmark06, vantage etc.) I have the issue with the shearing. The problem does go away when I disable Catalyst A.I.

The video is blurry, but once I go to the native resolution (1920x1200), you'll see what I'm talking about.

The problem dissolved, but it came back again. Rig specs in sig.

And yes, I tried the CPU at stock clock speeds, and the issue doesn't happen in windows 7. (Dual boot configuration)

if its not happening in win7, im guessing its a driver problem. try reinstalling them?

I've done that 3 times so far today, even used the DriverCleaner procedures.

Mark: The right half of the screen is shearing until I change the resolution.

Watch the entire video, where it says F.E.A.R is very blurry, then at the very end of the video when it changes, you can see the letters become clear.

I can see the words become clear, but I don't see what that has to do with a "shearing" issue. I'm sorry, but the video quality is too bad to see what is going on. Maybe if you used a game/application that didn't have a bunch of effects on the menu screen?

I'm gonna try to figure out a way to record this, FRAPS does not record the issue. The only thing I can really describe in any more depth is that the left side of the screen is totally fine, and on the right it's like it shakes left to right and overlaps.

If FRAPS is not recording it, chances are it is not driver output issue. Have checked your monitor connections, maybe tried to switch cables or ports on the video card?

Yep. Tried a different cable. I wonder why it works fine on W7 though

Do you have the drivers for the LCD installed in the O/S where the issue takes place?

I've experienced several instances where issues similiar to what you describe have happened on customer's machines and simply installing the LCD driver fixed the issue.

Yes, the drivers are installed.

Its odd. I can change my desktop resolution and the issue doesn't happen.

I just re-installed my monitor driver, tried a different DVI-HDMI cable, and this is what I end up with.

Does anyone think this may be an issue with the NF200 chip?

I've never had a problem like this, so I'm not sure i can help you much..

Is this xp or vista? Since the video appears to be captured with a video camera its possible its the monitor. If you can try getting something like fraps which captures from the frame buffer then view the video on another computer or something and see if the same issue occurs.

If a video is taken through fraps or something and its fine then typically its monitor, dvi port, dvi cable, etc... Its still possible to be video card but usually not.

Re-installed DX10 as per Mark Warners reccomendation, worked like a charm.

Thanks again.

Well it wasn't the DX10 install, it was the Catalyst 9.5 that fixed it... now I'm back in the same boat.
