Alright well i've been trying to setup my new mining rig for a week now, i'm basically a complete noob when it comes to mining and linux... I had no problem building my rig but the programing of it is really frustrating me, I chose to use Xubuntu because i want to save as much money as possible and I understand its more complicated for beginners but i'm not switching to windows.. Now the problem is I cant figure out how to download the driver for my R9 270 gpu (not the 270X!!) i've tried various catalyst amd drivers but non work because I cant fine one that says its compatible with my graphics card.. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

BAMT 1.3 son, get some BAMT. Burn it to a USB drive, change a couple settings in the cgminer.conf and away you go.

yeah, BAMT and even the dumbest people can be fully operational in 5 minutes

I will say it's easier to get your cards setup and configured in windows, just for ease of watching cgminer output. Once you have the settings figured out you can just copy that into your BAMT installation and let her fly.

open GPUmon then push the page up button and you have the cgminer output without installing a single thing

I could never get gpumon to do anything. I just opened up terminal and attached to the screen that cgminer was on

alright I downloaded BAMT to a usb and tried booting it up and it worked fine for like 20 seconds then I go a black screen with a red box and a out of range error and some info about my screen.. How can I fix this without windows? I have a pretty old screen that uses vga so im using a vga to dvi-d convertor to connect it to my gpu, and it was working fine when I was running Xubuntu and Ubuntu but not with BAMT..

IMHO, I'd check to see what IP it was given by the DHCP server. use remote desktop connection to remote into the box, user = user, pass = live. Or you can ssh into the box also. You are using BAMT 1.3 or 1.4 right?

oh snap I was using ssh and didn't know I could just remote desktop in

I dont know what other options I have... I've put so much time into this and with every new method I try I seem to run into some problem.. i've tried various usb's and rebooted various times, i've also tried various versions of BAMT and I keep getting the same error message..
