Vertical sync issue only on CRT

I have a 7550 compaq flat screen CRT, and I just found out about the vertical sync, option in my games like Quake 4, Fry Cry or Call Duty 2. I like to do with out cause it makes my video card produce frames at max on my 6800GT OC to 410/1100 speed.
Having my vertical sync turn off i can see like splits in the games, that shows my monitor electron gun is slow. Wondering is it only on CRT or also LCD's ?

Soon i'm planning on getting the samsung 244T as a performance monitor for games and HD stuff.

btw what's the best gaming LCD fast monitor out there or like nearly top ones?

I've heard some people here saying the 244T is very bad for games but I have not experienced it myself. I did hear some people say the BenQ FP241W is ok and if true that means the Dell 2407FPW is also about the same.

Oh and LCD's do get tearing if played without V-Sync turned on but then it limits your framerate. I find it better turned on to be honest. I have ordered the BenQ FP241WZ which should be here next week-ish so I'll report back when I know more.

V-sync is an absolute must on LCD's. The tearing on LCD's is much, much worse without it.

To lessen the tearing without V-sync, on your CRT, increase the refresh rate. A high quality CRT can run games without, or with barely noticeable tearing with V-sync off.

It is not an issue only with CRTs, it happens on all monitors.

I will look in to the BenQ FP241W, monitor also found it on newegg, the thing is I still want a LCD but a good and fast LCD for my gaming.
Also looking at the Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW, what about the viewsonic? Do they make good stuff?
