Vertical 5.25" HD adapter

I'm looking for a 5.25" Bay adapter that will let me stack drivers veritcally. I don't need any expensive hotswap or raid adapter. Just a simple box that has the screw holes in the right place. Anyone know where I can get this? All the ones I've seen are either SATA or SCSI. I want a specific interface unit...
 
Its like a drive bay adaptor that goes into the 5.25 bays to allow 3.5 drives to go fit. Three 5.25 bays can fit four 3.5 drives. There are some out there, but they are all fancy hot swapable.

why dont you simply put rails on the HD's (the kind that expand the 3.5 case to fit into a
5.25 hole, then line the drives up like books in a bookcase.
wouldn't that work?

That makes two of us not understanding where this is going. The guy wants to mount them vertically, the rails you're speaking of only allow horizontal mounting of drives.
For every 5.25 bay he'd still have only one drive instead of giving up two 5.25 bays to fit 3-5 hard drives.


In answer to your question, I have yet to see any drive cage that wasn't hot-swappable. I looked myself for days before surrendering to the fact that I had to get a fancy cage. Check on ebay, the last time I was looking I could pick up a 5 drive cage for under $100.
 
Thanks for the reply. I guess I could make my own, but I'll prolly just go ahead and get some wing adapters and just do 1 drive per bay.

than make a baseplate to accept the rail screw holes .

oh i see , you wanted to BUY something that someone else has thought of instead of using a little ingenuity on your own .

Ah crap, some reason I thought it was the standard Lian Li cage sans a slot. Thanks for catching that. ;\
