Verizon's LTE-enabled Galaxy Nexus priced at $200?

Why the hell would you ever take your SD card out of your phone? Esp. when you have to take the battery out of your phone to even get to it.

Why not?

It's much faster to just set up a WiFi file sharing system or even use the USB cable to transfer files to whatever PC you're trying to put the media onto.

It depends on how much data you transfer.

The read/write speed on the G-Nex's internal memory would probably a bit faster than the transfer speed of any SD card, making file transfers pretty fast.

Since you have been given out false information in the past, I wonder whether you get any proof to support your statement.

I don't even know how you would keep track of multiple MicroSD cards either. I can be holding one and it will disappear like a friggin Chris Angel act.

I am not stupid.

Why not?

really? that's your argument, why not?

It depends on how much data you transfer.

No it doesn't, it's faster to transfer by simply plugging it in. In order to get the card out, on many phones, you have to shut it down, remove the cover, remove the battery, remove the card, put micro card in card reader, put card reader in computer. This has nothing to do with how much data you transfer. If you transfer data more frequently you will save even more time by simply plugging in the USB cable. Actually it is even faster for me to simply upload any files to my Dropbox account over 4G or WiFi and then they instantly show up on my desktop/laptop. Yeah, I got Unlimited 4G Data, suck it.

Since you have been given out false information in the past, I wonder whether you get any proof to support your statement.

you're the one countering with "why not" arguments......sheesh...

I am not stupid.

probably one of the most debatable statements you have made in the past few days, and that is truly saying alot, because nearly everything you say is questionable

chui you keep digging a hole man, nobody is going to believe anything you say now....

chiu is the first person I ever added to my ignore list. And I made a very good choice. Now if you guys would just stop quoting him. ;)

Nice. You are cute even you are a troll.

I guess all of you run out of arguments, right?
If so, I am afraid you have to admit Galaxy Nexus sucks.

you win go away, nobody cares, go troll yourself in your broken ass poll thread, some of us can be happy without your approval

He's been on and on about how the Galaxy Nexus sucks... And I'm still not sure why aside from banana phone, Disney screen (with a comparison to an totally different phone!) and no SD card. One of which makes no sense whatso ever, and the SD card one does matter because I have USB ports and unlimited data, whilest the other is personal preference and even that can be changed.

At this point I think you have the best response.

Is he still calling it a banana phone? Lol.. I thought I shut him up about that when he first started trolling about it in his original thread with this pic:

Is he still replying to my posts even though I can't see them too? Lolz

I don't know why you guys are still talking to him.

I'm looking forward to this phone myself after reading up on the reviews from Engadget and the verge. Still waiting to see it in person though. The size will play a factor. 4.65" just might be too big.

You know what's easiest - enabling ftp on the phone (via MIUI builtin support, or any no. of market apps) and then just using it from my pc. It's even better than connecting it via usb since the sd card doesn't have to be unmounted and phone apps continue to work. e.g. I can take a MBP backup and copy it over to my pc.

Yep, between FTP and DropSync, there is no reason to remove (or have) a SD card. I'll actually be happy not to have one - my Droid X has been randomly deciding to lose the ability to write to the SD after unplugging from the charger, requiring a manual dismount/mount each time to get it working again.

With USB Host on the nexus, there's an option for emergency removable storage if needed. Not to bait chiu or anything, but does the resound have USB Host? Honestly don't know - I know my Droid X does not.

I actually have no idea, I don't think so off the top of my head.

Do you really think I think the phone is a banana, fool?

The issue of the "banana" shape (or formally the curved screen) is that it causes distortions on the screen. It is weird to see that the edges of the screen are not straight lines but slightly curved. Likewise, the edges of any large windows are not exactly straight. WTF!?!?!?

Some trolls in this thread will follow up and say it is nothing or even say they like straight lines/edges look curved, etc. Hey guys, don't lie to yourself; it is unhealthy to your mental health.

Do you notice that Dropbox is not free when the total size of your files is larger that 2GB?

Do you notice that Verizon will charge you more for a larger bandwidth?

Do you notice that some ISPs do not allow you to set up a home server for you to upload your files?
Do you know how to deal with the dynamically assigned IP problem if you illegally set up a home server?

All of these issues can be avoided by having a SD card slot on your phone. Then you can transfer files anytime, anywhere.
But unfortunately Samsung do not give you this option, even you have to pay $300 for a locked phone.

Think about it.

we dont want your opinion, go away, make your own thread or go return to one of the ones from which you came, this thread is about a device you have never used yet you have 101 reasons to hate it....move on....

I've been using Dropbox since well, a long time ago, over a year I know, and I can't remember ever deleting files, and it sits at 15% used out of 2.78Gb available. No I don't pay for it. You can actually get up to 8Gb I think free. You have to be smarter than you have proven to be in order to get more space.

Verizon doesn't charge anyone for storage space. I never take my sdcard out of my phone. It's a 32Gb card, been in the phone since day one, and has 10Gb free, and I have 10Gb of music I could delete as it is redundant to my cloud Google Music files. So technically I have 20Gb still free......

Your ISP gives a fuck about what we are talking about. That's a really long reach there pal. Most people around here know how to do far more than you could ever know with networking.....

I can't believe the shit this fool spits.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I thought they said with the Galaxy Nexus you could hook it up to your PC via USB and use it just like mass storage. It was only on a Mac where it might get tricky.

Thats true of most all of the Android handsets, or at least that's my understanding, you never need to physically remove the memory. There's so many options, in the event you did need to offload files, physically removing the sdcard is completely unnecessary and rather "old school".

Bla bla bla...herp...derp.

Geez, can't you at least be of some use and answer my question: does Resound (or RAZR / other current phones for that matter) have USB Host? Come on, you of all people should know. I'd like to be educated.

Did anyone just see Chiu say "don't lie to yourselves"
My brain just imploded. What is this I don't even?

As for the illegal server BS, your ISP doesn't care about a little FTP server or anything like that. In regards to dynamic IPs, that's a completely trivial and extremely easy to resolve problem.

As for your question Dallows, almost every Android device can just act as mass storage on a computer or access it in some way. Removing an SD card is much bigger pain in the ass than just plugging it in.

We are talking about transfer a large amount of data, such as video files, to your friends.

You upload it to your Dropbox account over your 4G data connection that's far faster than your sdcard can transfer and email/text/share the link to it with them. I could upload the file, share the link, and a friend could download the file to his handset faster than you could power down the phone, remove battery cover, remove sdcard, put in friends phone?? let them put it where?? because they have your sdcard in their phone now......, watch it....swap back???.....or maybe you put your sdcard in their micro to mini sdcard adapter and then dump in on their computer?? Do you understand how fucking retarded that is? Just plug in the fucking USB cable if you want to physically move the file on memory. But a 4G to 4G Dropbox transfer would still be faster. And in case you still didn't get it, you can have up to 8Gb free with Dropbox. Who's the fool swapping sdcards around?

Does anyone have an idea how long Verizon is keeping the 4g double-speed deal active?

Last day is this Wednesday, November 30th.

Lol, perfect. I was about to say something like this earlier, but I didn't feel like continuing anymore. I'm amazed you haven't added him to your ignore list yet, hah. I'll bet Chiu is probably the #1 most ignored user now considering not many people use that function.

In regards to dynamic IPs, that's a completely trivial and extremely easy to resolve problem.

Dynamic IPs is actually a tricky issue. You need to find some ways to update the IP address from time to time.

Another tricky issue is that some ports may be blocked by your ISP.

As for your question Dallows, almost every Android device can just act as mass storage on a computer or access it in some way. Removing an SD card is much bigger pain in the ass than just plugging it in.

Let's say I have 100G video/songs on my laptop harddisk, and I want to bring them to anywhere along with my phone so that I can enjoy them anywhere. Do you expect me to bring my laptop and swap the files using USB to the laptop? I think the best solution is to put them on micro SD cards.

With a micro SD card slot, your storage size is unlimited. Without a micro SD card slot, the storage space is capped and you have to pay more to increase the storage size. It is utterly strange and dishonest to argue against SD card slots and even like to live without a SD card slot.

stop with that, just stop, there also might be a silver monkey that comes and butt rapes you at night, it's just as likely, but....it's going nowhere, go start a different thread so you can educate all of the people here on how complicated ISP's are....lol

Let's say I have 50G video/songs on my laptop harddisk, and I want to put them on my phone. Do you expect me to swap the files using USB? I think a better solution is to swap them with micro SD cards.

If you have 50Gb of files on your laptop you want to put on your phone...this is already stupid but hey....then you have to copy the files to your sdcard either way. It happens over a USB bus either way. It is just as slow when you plug the card into a memory card reader as it is over the USB connection. It all goes through a USB hub controller. It doesn't matter if you take the sdcard out and put it in the laptop, or if you connect the phone to the laptop with a USB cable. The cable is faster, the sdcard method is slower. Sdcard connections wear out, not recommended to do a lot of remove, replace. And you don't hear anyone complaining about how 32Gb is not enough space. You have tried to find a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I don't think I've ever encountered an ISP blocking this. Also, it's called dynamic DNS. Or just... DNS.

Who does this? I'm not even sure I understand what the hell you're talking about with this "scenario" of yours.

You're almost arguing about completely different things, in such strange and unique circumstance. Your hypothetical scenario would exist for a very small portion of users. And I'm sure they'd come up with something.

It's not really worth arguing. There's no MicroSD slot on the Galaxy Nexus. Most of us don't care. Those who do, will found a work around or holy shit, buy another phone that supports their needs. That's why there's different phones out there. You don't need to go on a fucking crusade about your precious Rezound(also a shitty name for a phone.)

haha, Chui kept increasing the size of the porn stash he wants to "share", i swear it was less than 50Gb first, then it was 50Gb, then the more he thought about it, the less it really helped make his case, so he had to up it to 100Gb......as if he has a 100Gb sdcard anyways....

ok ok ok...loloolololol

so now....lets say guise, you want to store the internet on your phone, and you want to save it on your sdcard guise....and you want to give a physical copy of the internet to your "friend", and your friend lives in Alaska, and you live in China guise....and so you would probably choose the most efficient way to get it to him. Nevermind 4G data....we should be sure our device will let us copy the internetz onto a few sdcard, then we will mail them, no wait guise....we would call the Banana Courier Service.....the guy wears Beats Audio headphones so he's legit. We would then show him from 100 miles away on our superior 720p screen how to get there, by bike of course.

I simply cannot understand why this is not obviously the most logical method to do this guise!

Chui, I just need you to answer the question bro, do you or do you not have a very useful feature built into your phone that just *might* make it easier and faster to transfer those files?

Reply from Chui:
What this is you think I like bananas fool? Are you so serious to think am I not making sense? The AMOLED screen if of course irrelevant to the discussion on Beats audio fool!

Yea, Dynamic DNS is seriously like, 5 minutes of work, max.

Also, apparently it's strange and dishonest to like not having an SD card slot?

Thanks Dallows for saying exactly what I wanted to say before me. :p

I haven't used an SD card in my phone since the original RAZR V3.

Every phone I've had or friends phone has had no problem acting as a USB mass storage device on Vista/7. My atrix had a problem with installing a driver, that took all of 1 minute to lookup + fix.

You know guys, chiu made some good points w.r.t sd card, and he's not the only one. Almost every review and forum has complained about the lack of sd card on the Nexus. Lets not pretend an sdcard has no advantages.

e.g. I have a 32gb card filled with movies, and a 16gb one with music, which I can swap at will, and I also use them on other devices since I have a usb adapter for the card. My phone has been in state where it didn't boot, and I was able to take out the card, format it on a pc, put the right recovery image on it, and make things work. If my phone is dead and I don't have a usb cable, I can still access my data by taking the card out.

Not all of this may be likely, the point is flexibility. Android is a platform that allows all this. Which is why phones like the SGSII etc have large internal storage, and sdcard, giving you the best of both worlds. No one besides Sprint has unlimited data. And esp not in countries outside the US. So all this Dropbox/4G/cloud sync stuff is not really relevant to a lot of people.

People have been criticizing iPhone/iPad for not having sdcard support since forever. Why is it suddenly not ok to do so for the Nexus?

This thread is such an epic fail for such an awesome phone.

Idk, I was thinking that it's a pretty epic thread. If Chiu is an intentional troll, he's one of the best I've seen. I almost feel like I'm missing out by having him on my ignore list.

It can be a criticism sure. But it's not the end of the world. Take a point off if you like, but it's not going to get me to start looking at the Rezound.

I've never swapped my SD card from my OG droid. There's really no need. I guess if you have SO MUCH data that you must use with your phone it could be a point of interest. But I would say like.... 80-90% of users don't do that, so they won't give a shit, or think twice about not having it.

I've personally never heard the remark on iPhone about the lack of removable storage. Maybe back when they had smaller hdds? Now with a max size of 64GB, you'd be hard pressed to find a reason for it. (Doesn't seem to have hurt sales either)

Also to note with the Galaxy Nexus, even though it's one single hdd, it's partitioned. So your recoveries and stuff will still be stored separately along with your other data. So the only thing that would really hurt you there is a total crash of the hdd. But in that case you should have backups on your PC as well.

Exactly.

A micro SD card slot is kind of standard on Android platform. I hate some companies who declare "I don't need a SD card slot" and force me to live without one.
