Verizon FIOS router replacement

So long story short, my roommate pays for a maxxxxed FIOS package from Verizon. We have 4 TVs, DVR, etc etc.

He will kill me if I break anything, but I would REALLY like to run a Unified Threat Manager, or at least a DDWRT router.

What are my best options? I have looked at dslreports.com and they have a decision matrix, but none of the options look great.

I have fios internet and Tv package. I recently switched to my own router.

You'll need to get the cat5 port in the ONT activated. After that it comes down to choosing what configuration you want. the DSLreports wiki has all the options.

Since you have the TV package the actiontec router will have to stay, no choice. The only thing you can control is how you work it into your setup.

I went with option 6 personally, I don't use the media share/remote dvr access stuff.
