verifying data pool..........

after booted, HDD and CDROM can detect. but then stop at verifying data pool. I had ever waited for about 10 minutes but still no respond. i am sure the my old pc duron 1000mhz with the old type motherboard but the HDD is 160gb. Might this be the reason????? any suggestion/solutions from experts? thanks

Will it go all the way through the POST sequence without the drives connected ?
If it will then it the drives causeing the problem.
Try clearing the CMOS and trying again.
Go to the mobo's manufacters home page and see if theres a newer bios that you could flash to.
Try a smaller drive ?
