Hi everyone!

I recently acquired an OCZ Vendetta 2 for my E6300 and I was wondering what temps I should be getting. I overclocked it to ~3.00 Ghz (429 FSB - Stock Voltage)

Temps are :
idle : 43-44C
load : 57-58C with Intel TAT at 100% on both cores
load : 55-56 with OCCT
loda : 52-53 with StreesCPU option in Orthos

I used to get 51-52 on idle and 60+ on load with the Stock intel cooler (@2.5Ghz), so i'm pretty satisfied with the current temperatures, but I'm wondering if I could make them even better. The Vendetta 2 was installed with AS5 and the default push-pin method.

First of all, how are you getting these temperature readings? If you're using a program like Real Temp or Core Temp, then they are fine. The fact is that the temperature sensors in Core 2 CPUs aren't that accurate at lower levels, but they're good enough to give you an idea of how you're doing, and your temps are perfectly fine.
 
I've got a Q6600 with a Vendetta 2 on it. My temps idle ~35-40 (and it's LA hot weather too) and load is in the low 50s. Now, I also have speedstep on so it clocks down during idle, but when I play games it does jump to its overclock setup. I bet you can go just a little lower. For reference, the way I applied my AS5 was a thin horizontal line right across the middle of the cpu. Same push-pin way as you. Of course, what Zero82z said is right, it's perfectly fine right now. However, say one day you decide to clean the heatsink or something, I guess you can give my method a go.
 
I have a Vendetta 2 on my Q9650 overclocked to 3.6. My idle temps are around 32-34c on all cores and load temps 47-50c on load temps. Download realtemp 3.0 and run the sensor test, then use prime95 to test. After the test you will see your distance to TJ max on all your cores. Also my temps were high at first, then I bought a bolt-through kit and got much better results. Make sure that all the push pins are secure.
 
What is your VCore? Do you have it set on auto? If so change it to manual and try 1.18 and see if you can stay stable. If not bump it up one. I learned that if I leave my vcore on auto then it can set the voltage to high and get higher temps.
 
I used CoreTemp to read the temperatures and the ambient temperature is around 20C. The vCore is at 1.32V which is the default for the E6300 (it's not on auto), isn't 1.18V too low for this processor?

From the temperatures posted from the other users, I'll try and re-apply the paste correctly.
@khansolo : did you fill the spaces with paste between the pipes and the aluminium base on the heatsink?

I always try to go with the lowest Vcore possible. You might be able to lower yours a little.
 
No, I didn't fill the spaces.I was thinking of lapping it at first, but if you do a google search, apparently the pipes are already thin as it is, so lapping could damage it. I figured if this is true, the pipes themselves must absorb the heat fine with it the way it is right our of the box.
It did take me a few tries to get it right though. Too long of a line, it drips to the side, too short, not enough contact.
