Kyle should do a blind test between a Geforce GTX 1070 and a Geforce GTX 1080 Ti at 1440p and see which one people like better.

What a shocker, more people preferred the AMD system.
What I don't understand is why they are testing a GTX 1080 Ti at 1440p resolution. A single GTX 1070 can max out Doom on ultra settings at 4k resolution. It never dips below 60fps.
They should have tested something more demanding like Wildlands, at a higher resolution. AMD supplied the 1440p screens so they were kind of stuck. I'm sure that was intentional on behalf of AMD.
I will say that HardOCP's test/demo was far more interesting than what AMD did in Budapest and Portland. But this was by no means reflective of any type of meaningful gaming experience, IMO. It's kind of like testing a GTX 1050 versus a GTX 1080 Ti in Quake 3. Both will run the game so fast that the difference will be inconsequential and imperceptible. AMD is probably encouraging tests like this because they know their product is inferior.

The reason why most of the people couldn't tell which system was which was because they were both running the game so smoothly to the point that any differences were inconsequential. Had Kyle bogged the cards down with a more demanding game, I suspect the GTX 1080 Ti system would have won by a landslide. It's easy to tell the difference between 20fps and 30fps. 90fps and 110fps not so much.FWIW my Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080 sometimes drops below 60fps on Doom in Nightmare at Ultra on my 3440x1440 monitor. It's not common and I've never seen it drop below 45fps, but no, a 1070 can't push Doom at 3440x1440 on Ultra always more than 60fps.

Agreed. I don't want to go on and on about this though. Kyle made the decision. He has been at this a long time. The video turned out outstanding, much better than I had anticipated. Who knows, had he chosen Deus Ex or some other more demanding game, perhaps other issues would have come up and it wouldn't have been a good comparison. Actually Deus Ex has some horrible mouse lag. That could have skewed the test. My own game preference would have been Ghost Recon Wildlands or maybe the Witcher 3. People would complain that Wildlands is an nVidia game though and the Witcher 3 is pretty dated at this point. Kyle knows what he's doing. I just want to know more about Vega, I was hoping to gain a clearer picture of how well it performs. This thing has been delayed since forever. Honestly, I don't see it being THAT high, because at that price, even pitting against 1080ti would make the card a failure, let alone against an 1080...

My overclocked 980Ti dips to 90fps at 2560x1440 with nightmare textures and shadows enabled, and 8xTSSAA
My 290 was running around 90-100 fps at 1920x1200p with all ultra, just no nightmare textures/shadows.

Any cost savings (assuming that we are choosing between panels that have a choice between FS ans GS) of buying FS would have been easily destroyed by the fact that you have to buy 2 Vega GPUs.
