Sure, but let's be fair, AMD knowing all that will price it between 1070 and 1080 if they really have to.I think what we should be looking at is if it delivers price: performance compared to it's competition and delivers at least 1080 levels for <$549 or 1080ti levels < $700.

So they will be able to claim that they have the better price perf but given the power consumption differential... it won't take too long for that advantage to disappear.

They've been at this for hours running and re-running benches playing with settings. These guys are well established in the industry. I think they know WTF they are doing. They obviously are confident enough to do this live for thousands to watch.

I don't know. They were firing up a mining benchmark when that happened having just wrapped up the gaming benchmarks, so I'm fairly certain there was more at play than the card, drivers, or OC. I just felt the timing of when it happened extremely funny. It was adding insult to injury.Was it OC'd when it blue screened?
As to mining 44MH/s is nothing to sneeze at. RX cards score in the low 20s. My Fury X card handles nearly 30.

Electricity is cheap for most of the U.S.. It would cost you 3 cents an hour to run that card at 300 watts or about 75 cents per day at .10 KWh. You'd currently be making about $5-$8 per 24 hour period in a generic mining pool like nice hash at that rate-- more if you specialize.

No I currently have two fury X card mining in my main PC. I bought the PC and the cards for gaming and my primary use is gaming. In the last week I joined the mining field for the first time with nicehash and made at most 10.50 in just one day.
I use the two Fury X cards - I dropped their TDP by 20% which doesn't affect hash rate, or maybe affects it by a percent or two. I pay about $60-70 cents a day for each card I figure. So in one day I paid back both cards electricity for the week.
If I was only gaming on them as I've only done for the last six months + --- as I've said a bunch of times in the last two pages --- the primary purpose of these particular desktop cards was to game -- power consumption is too minimimal a stat to matter. This vega idles as 14-16 watts according to the review we just watched. Gaming between 250-300 watts. (3 cents an hour)
if you are mining with a house full of them, or if you are talking mobile version of said card - yes of course it matters. For the average joe american buying these particular cards -- it just doesn't amount to a hill of beans one way or the other as to power draw.

Except this time it looks like it's $500-$1000 too much >.<Historically AMD prices it $50-100 too much, so that's what I expect.
It's not good for mining though, at least not yet. Maybe once claymore/eth miner dev optimizes. Drivers mature a bit. Who knows.so maybe gaming vega = good for mining, bad for games (unless it comes in @ good money)..
Maybe AMD should just leave off the video ports and sell them as cheap a possible to miners. I can see why AMD/Nvidia would do that so that they don't crash the gaming market cards later. Anyways I am not sure Vega will even be a viable product for AMD. Nothing about Vega 11 either, I wonder if Vega 11 is suffering even a worse fate than Vega 10?so maybe gaming vega = good for mining, bad for games (unless it comes in @ good money)..
