I just came from BB #607in IL. I wanted to see what the Velocity Micro was like in the flesh. I went back to where they were. I saw a price tag next to one of the VC's that said $1299. It had a nice case that had doors covering the drives. It was not on though. I heard good things about these computers from this site and it looks like the CEO chimes in on this site witch is good. It looked great inside. One of the customer sales people(ya right) asked me if I needed help. I pointed to the computer and asked him if that was the price for that computer, he said yes. He asked me if I am a gamer. I said I do a littles bitt of everything, but I wanted a quality computer. He could only tell me that it was a powerful computer. He also said he would give a BB gift card for the one on the floor. He then looked up and and saw one sealed box and give me that one with the gift card. I said sign me up. He brought it down, had me go to the register, had me fill out the service plan, and proceeded to scan the computer. He scaned it and it came up $1899. He looked at me and then played dumb. We got the supervisior and they came back saying that was the price for a 2020 model not the 2210. I said this is the computer you you said was $1299, please get your manager. When all was said and done I spent a hour with BB back pedalling because the messed up. They did not even know about what models they were selling. It came down to BB saying to bad so sad. They would not honer the price they told me. They said they could give 10% off (oh Boy190 vs. 600). I am sorry that this is a bitt long, but I am so angry. I can't believe VC would put there product in a store that doesn't know VC's product. I won't shop with BB again, there customer service is p poor. Calling there customer care is a waste of time also. They tell you we can't see it from here we don't care.

Thanks for the ear.

Best Buy's, aka Worst Buy's blue shirts knows less about PCs than a Mac Zealot.

That's saying something.

Have you seen the VM review where the BB guy made all those claims about Conroe?

haha I used to work there, luckily i was inventory
this is store #946 in winnipeg

Our computer team was fairly knowledgable about their products, however Best Buy will pretty much hire anyone into their sales crew regardless of knowledge or experience...however, winnipegs BB does not sell VM products nor do any Canadian BB's

I used to work there when they started, Arlington Hgts. IL. We were taught everything and when we messed up we took the hit. The customer is always right. Now it seems they will tell the customer they won't take responsiblity for there errors. I had the ok from the wife and was excited to get it. It looked like the VC was going to be the choice I wanted and at a great price. The model that they were going to sell me was the 2210, I didn't catch the typo till after hitting send. I

frank your first mistake was walking into BB. Your second mistake was talking to one of the employees.

Did you really expect anything different?;) This is why they call them worst buy. I don't think that it is VM's fault for trying to get their product out there and then being responsible for retards at BB.

BestBuy is fine as long as you go there for the right things. DO NOT go to Best Buy looking for a computer. TV, maybe, dvd player, sure, even a fridge or washer and dryer if the price is right, but never for a computer. Best Buy is good at what they do, which is having everything in one central location, software and hardware for everything across the board. because of this you can get good deals on stuff, but a computer is not something you want to buy from them.

My tought was that it would not be so bad because support could be done through VC.

Other than the instant gratification of fireing up the system that day, why not buy direct?

You might want to look at the Vector™ GX Holiday Edition and configure it up to a 2020 and it would still be cheaper. (about $US1194)

well i have always found best buys employees to be rather moronic, but to be fair it isnt any better at compusa or circuit city and the like (unless you're lucky i guess).

btw, i applied there back in the day after i got A+ certified just for sales and they wouldnt hire me, so there you go.

That being said i like best buy as a store, i prefer them over gamespot or eb for getting games since i can grab them myself and know it's not a display case being sold as a new item or any crap like that.

But yeah, never shop for a compouter at any store, if you want a VM then buy it from their website.

I admit i bought a computer from BB once, it was a packard BELL and it was 1992, that was the only time when it may have been ok.

oh and i had some very vomitous expreinces at the LA best buys, but i considering that a more isolated issue, since i've never seen none of that in my many years of shopping at the Minnesota ones.

Sorry but I hope you don't honestly expect an employee's mistake to entitle you to a price which isn't correct?

You have got to be kidding.

funny how they hire idiots. i've applied there 6...yes SIX times for a job and never got a call back. i worked for a year as a computer tech at a school district and have cashier experience ffs. lol whatever. i shop at circuit city more than i do best buy now.

I usually buy off New Egg but I went there to sign up for Comcast internet to get the $100 BB gift card.

The printer attached to the terminal they make you use was broken and we couldn't get my receipt printed for check-out. You have to use a credit card for a hold for sign-up and the guy claimed my credit card hadn't been run so I should just do the whole sign-up thing again. No way I was doing that, because Comcast would no doubt double bill me. The guy and one other could not figure out what to do.

So I said went outside to call my credit card company, and sure enough, my credit card had been run. I went back in and asked the guy if he was going to attend to my problem and he just nodded and left me for 10 more minutes. I stood around, as they were busy, and then finally went back to the guy and asked what was up and why he wasn't helping me. I asked him if I should get his manager to tell him how he had just left me for 10 minutes. I was trying to give this dunghole every chance I could to make things right. He just said to go ahead and get the manager. So I finally found the floor manager, told him about my problem and what poor service I'd received. However, he was clueless too, and so I figured out how to get back into the system on my own on another kiosk and print the damn receipt with a confirmation code.

All in all I wasted about an hour and a half of my life at Best Buy for a process that at best should have taken 15-20 minutes.

Needless to say, I got my gift card, bought some Christmas presents with it, and that is positively my absolutely LAST trip EVER into the hell that is Best Buy.

The only things I buy at BB are TV's and consoles and stuff. The last time I went there I caused a HUGE scene with a dumbass employee and his manager. I won.

I did not cause a scene and I did not win. I even wanted to compromise and meet him halfway, no dice. I will be calling the GM of that store on Tuesday. Today I talked to a manager from another store and he said that he would have met me halfway.

Seriously, I'm all for employees not being morons, but what makes you think that you should get a few hundred dollars off a mismarked item? Seems to be a bit of lame whining on your part.

like anything... measure, measure, measure again then cut. in this case research, research then walk in, if the price is acceptable, purchase. about the only question I ask them is the same as a grocery store clerk "what aisle can I find XYZ on?"
